From Doodles to Daydreams: Ketnet’s Animated Ident

Ketnet sought an animated ident to anchor their rebranding, aiming to captivate young audiences while preserving a sense of nostalgia. They envisioned a character who could leap from a notebook page into fantastical realms, embodying the daydreams of young viewers. With Ketnet’s playful spirit in mind, Whojo stepped up to bring this vision to life.

the challange

The project’s biggest hurdle? Compressing an expansive, multi-world narrative into just 12 seconds of screen time. With 4 seconds dedicated to the Ketnet logo, only 50 frames per world remained to deliver a cohesive and magical story.

We designed a character inspired by a child’s doodle, preserving her sketch-like charm while adding personality with details like a cap, headphones, and a backpack. She embarks on a journey through three vibrant worlds, each with a distinct visual style: a nostalgic 8-bit platformer inspired by Super Mario, a dreamy abstract landscape with fluid animations, and a bold geometric space with high-energy transitions. Using a mix of 2D, 3D, and hybrid animation, we ensured seamless transitions between these worlds while maintaining a cohesive visual narrative.
