The Hybrid Theory: Opening Titles & Talk at BUMP Festival

Background
BUMP Festival celebrates design and creativity, making it the perfect stage for Whojo’s innovative storytelling. Tasked with crafting the opening titles for the event, we were given absolute freedom—a rare carte blanche that allowed us to dive deep into our creative process.
We created opening titles inspired by our studio’s hybrid philosophy, blending 2D and 3D into a striking visual masterpiece. Drawing from vintage TV test screens, we crafted a contrast-rich world where analog met digital, aligning with BUMP’s theme. On stage, we presented our first conference talk, Passion Projects to Passion Sprints, sharing how we sustain authenticity and excitement in our work. To maximize impact, we kept the titles a secret until the day before the event, building suspense and anticipation.
the challange
The brief? Create something unmistakably Whojo. This meant not only pushing technical boundaries but also encapsulating the festival’s spirit in a narrative that resonated with the audience. The challenge extended to our public speaking debut, where we needed to articulate our vision and creative journey.
Special thanks
Thank you to BUMP Festival for trusting us with the freedom to explore and for the incredible platform to share our creative philosophy. This partnership represents the heart of what Whojo stands for: boundary-pushing creativity and authentic storytelling.
